Developing of Sport School- Step by step:
School was established in 1952 with 9 sport departments: basketball, skiing, track and field athletics, volleyball, gymnastics, football, cycling, tennis and speed-skating.
Sport School programmes during years - orienteering (from 1986),
floor ball (from 1992-1994 and from 2002), table tennis (from
1994-2009), BMX (from 1995-2009), badminton (from 1997-2009),
sport for disabled (from 2000), swimming (1958-1960), canoeing
(1961-1963), shooting (1962, 1964-1966), chess (1965-1967,
1971-1985, 1997), downhill skiing (1968-1973, 1990), ice hockey
(1991-1993), luge (1997), wrestling (2000).

Our best youth and junior biathletes Kaspars Dumbris, Janis Berzins, Edgars Piksons (summer biathlon World junior champion 2002), Gerda Krumina, Liga Glazere are role models for youth. They all participate in 2008 World biathlon Championships in Sweden Ostersund. Janis Berzins and Gerda Krumina participated in XX Winter Olympic games in Turino.
Santa Dreimane and Zane Eglite played in Latvian women
national basketball team in European Championships 2007 in
Ieva Krastina and Karlina Nimane played in Latvian U
20 youth basketball team in European Championships 2009 and won
3rd place.
Davis Rozitis played for the Latvian U 20 basketball
team in European Championships.
We are proud about all of our students who are participating in Latvian youth and national teams. Hope that they will remember our school with best memories and it will give them strength in future!
